tahitidancer.gif (25862 bytes)

A viewing panel in the floor reveals jewel-colored fish beneath your feet.  A ladder drops from your landing into the warm lagoon, should you feel tempted to join them for a swim.  On land, each fare (Tahitian for house) stands amidst luxurious gardens or on the beachfront.  And each bungalow features a private outdoor shower with unparalleled views.

Each of the hotels 54 over-water bungalows and 52 garden and beach bungalows are equipped with all the modern conveniences found in a world-class hotel, including special touches like ceiling fans and claw-footed tubs.   Especially popular with honeymooners, the "island on an island" over-water rooms are connected by winding, wooden walkways built on stilts over the lagoon.

Moorea: Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa: "Love this Resort!"
 Phoenix, AZ
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Tahiti, we stayed at two resorts on two islands. First we stayed at the Sheraton Moorea, and it was fabulous! When we arrived, they treated us like VIPs, they gave us pineapple juice and immediately upgraded us from a beach bungalow to an over water bungalow. Our room was spacious and beautiful! It had a huge tub, with a view of the mountains, room 105 is the third to last bungalow, and it faced the sunset, so we had spectacular views every night. The only issue with our room was the shower head, it didn't face down, so we had to hold it when we showered, but we didn't call to ask for a new one. The bath tub leaked at first, but maintenance came to fix it. The customer service here is great, the people are really nice and willing to set things up for you. Now we are on island time, so the restaurant service is pretty slow, but that's everywhere in Tahiti. During the week, it was very serene and peaceful and not a lot of people. We felt like we were the only ones there. It was wonderful. But beware on the weekends, all of sudden we were at Disneyland. There were 50 kids in the pool, so we stayed in our bungalow to avoid the crowds. We asked around and people from other resorts had the same issue, and they believed it was the locals bringing their kids to the resorts. That was the only bad part of our entire week there. The food is very expensive, but again, all of Tahiti is like this, you can't get a cheap meal. We figured out that the cheapest breakfast was at the hotel if we got french toast and a bread basket with juice. It was cheaper than the buffet and it was more fresh. The buffet left a lot to be desired, so we never even had it once. We ate dinner at the resort once and it was pricey, but very good. One night we had the romantic honeymoon dinner and I would HIGHLY reccomend it, it is expensive but so good! The waiter brings you your food to your room, and sets up this beautiful display of flowers. You get an appetizer, dinner and dessert. We had lobster and steak, and the best dessert. They bring you wine and champagne as well. It was quite a treat. When we wanted to go to other restaurants, the front desk arranged it for us. We spent most of our time in the resort, and while we did get sick of their only restaurant for lunch, (I can only have cheeseburger and fries so often) we still had a wonderful experience. You can take kayaks out for free, and snorkel from your bungalow, and they have a negative edge pool with a great view. Overall, I would stay here again. It was romantic, beautiful and serene!
